2. What is your hourly labor rate, and is there a diagnostic fee? Is it credited toward the repair?
3. Will you call me for approval if the job grows beyond the estimate?
4. Are your technicians ASE certified in this kind of repair?
5. Are the parts new OEM, aftermarket or rebuilt?

• Ask for a diagnosis in writing before agreeing to a rebuild: some symptoms come from sensors, fluid or software.
• Compare warranty length and miles as well as price.
• Check what the car is worth before paying for a major transmission job.
